David’s been on both sides of business, and has a real desire to make the job of running your business easier for you by providing timely, useful business and accounting advice.
He was born and educated in Hamilton, and worked for a number of years for James Aviation and then in the contracting industry for Brian Perry Limited before starting in a public accountancy practice. He spent 28 years with that practice until the senior partner retired in 2010.
David has a Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting) from Massey University.
He is the Founder and currently the Principal of City Edge Accountants Limited and is a member of ATAINZ.
He is a member of, and accountant for, the Business Edge Foundation, an inter-denominational, community-based business support network.
When he’s not in the office, he can be found converting a bus into a motorhome – or travelling around New Zealand in one of those motorhomes with fishing tackle, mountain bikes, and kayaks on the back.
He is a member of NZMCA (New Zealand Motor Caravan Association) and is keen on fostering the aims and freedom camping standards that the Organisation expects of its members.
David enjoys mountain biking, watching and being involved with cricket and can often be heard giving unsolicited cricket coaching advice in the nets.
To further assist his clients and the greater general public David accepted appointment in September, 2014 as a Justice of the Peace. He sees this as a way of giving back to the community in a small but crucial way.
